With over 15 years in the upstream Oil and Gas industry, Prem brings valuable expertise in subsurface engineering AI, specialising in reinforcement learning, supervised/unsupervised learning, and generative algorithms.
Previously, Head of Data Science at Petronas, he led teams delivering over $50 million of value annually using AI. He has also worked as Senior Data Scientist at Shell Malaysia and as a Research Engineer at Schlumberger.
Prem holds an MSc in Petroleum Engineering from Heriot-Watt University (2014) and a BEngin Electrical and Electronics Engineering with AI and Robotics from UNITEN,Malaysia (2010). From 2015-2023, he taught at Heriot-Watt as an adjunct professor while also working as a consultant in upstream data science.
He codes in Python, C, Java and JavaScript and is skilled in reservoir modelling and log interpretation. His publications include works for SPE and Elsevier, and he has been a featured speaker at SPE, MyStats and DataX conferences.
